Sidestep a Blow to Your Ego Today

Today’s message is from the Tarot Royale by Ciro Marchetti. 3 of Swords. Someone is going to punch you squarely on the ego today. There is no avoiding it. Take a minute and think about your biggest secret worry. Are you concerned about finances? Does your job seem shaky? Maybe you are experiencing trouble in your marriage or having other family problems. Wherever you are vulnerable right now, that’s where the hit is coming from. There is a hateful person around you who smells blood in the water. Like I said, the insult is coming. You might not be able to stop that. You can, however, control your reaction. I like to pretend I can’t hear very well when someone says something inappropriate. A concerned, “I’m sorry you feel that way. Tell me more!” sometimes allows a jerk to hear his words hanging in the air after it’s too late to take them back. The comment might even surprise you into bursting out laughing, without malice but loudly enough that everybody hears you and wants to know what the other guy said that was so funny. Whatever you do, don’t return fire. Deflect. Consider the source. Do you really care about this person’s opinion? I didn’t think so. But seriously … go for the laugh if you can.
