Summer Reading … Books, not Cards :)

I am kicking off my summer reading this year with Riley Sager’s 2024 blockbuster, “Middle of the Night.” More than half finished. I am enjoying the book but I think I already figured out who the killer is. Kind of a bummer 🙂 Thrillers tend to lose their luster if you’re psychic .. especially at the movies. I love big family sagas over the summer so I am also reading “Wheel of Fortune” by Susan Howatch. It’s the multigenerational story of an upper class English family at the beginning of the 20th century. Think of a much more dysfunctional “Downton Abbey.” I also plan to reread “Through a Glass Darkly” by Karleen Koen. This is one of the books I wish I had kept in hard copy. I’m Kindle only these days … except for the big hype books, so we can pass them around in our little reading group. Once I finish “Middle of the Night” it will be on its way to the Vineyard. I am also about a quarter of the way through “Swan Song” by Robert McCammon. It’s his answer to “The Stand.” There has been a nuclear holocaust and the characters are struggling to survive. It seems to be shaping up for a battle between good and evil. This might also be the year I tackle “Shantaram.” It’s been on my TBR list since 2007, so ya know … it might be time. Also on Kindle.

Do you read a lot? What kind of books do you reach for over the summer months?
