Mothers at Christmas

Today’s message is from the Ancestors and Oracle Cards by Kyle Gray. Mother Earth. I know a lot of you miss your mother at this time of year if she is gone; the holiday season is bittersweet without her. You know that it is true when they say that no one will ever love you quite as much as your mother. If you are lucky enough to have your mother with us on this planet, cherish every moment with her this Christmas season.

This message probably applies more to the rest of us 🙂 If you had a less than perfect relationship with your mother or mother figure when you were growing up, it can really mess with your head. As an adult, you might still feel that you do not quite measure up. Any attempts to communicate your feelings to her as an adult have been met with defensiveness or derision. Yep, this lady is a real piece of work. You deserved better. You might find yourself craving food, alcohol, or attention from the wrong people to fill that void. If your mother is on the other side, there is a good chance that you are still kicking yourself for not getting up the nerve to tell her off the way she deserved. You can still do that. This Christmas, give yourself the gift of letting go. Sit down with your favorite hot beverage and write your mother a letter. Spew out all the horrible things you can think of and really just … let her have it. Then you can either burn the letter or tuck it away in case you ever want to look at it again. The point is to get all these feelings down on paper where they will be more manageable. If you can write it, you can control it. It works, I promise. You can still do this if your mother is alive and well, but for the love of Mike, don’t mail it. She won’t read it anyway. God bless all of you who grew up in a challenging home and struggled to be the opposite kind of wife and mother. That takes superhuman courage 🙂 Have a great day.
